Nigeria’s foremost EdTech platform, uLesson yesterday announced the launch of a new platform, DevKids.com, a personalized live tutoring service that teaches coding to Grades 4-12. On the platform, kids get to explore HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python from scratch. Plus a dive into cybersecurity, AI, and machine learning.
Founded by Serial entrepreneur and founder of e-commerce platform Konga, Sim Shagaya, uLesson is focused on bridging the educational gap for K-12 (primary and secondary) education in Africa by providing learning resources and delivering affordable, high-quality, and accessible education using technology.
Making the announcement via his twitter handle, Shagaya reminisced about what gave birth to his passion for tech at the early age of 10. He said, “Introducing http://DevKids.com! At age 10, an uncle of mine – Patrick Umekwe – changed my life when he gifted me an MSX computer. I was enraptured and spent the following years learning how to program in BASIC and nursing a love for tech that lasts till to today”
Tutoring has been scheduled for a widespread amount of time that includes two time zones (GMT and Pacific Standard Time). According to Sim, the tutors are not just trained as programmers but also trained to fuel the creativity in kids.
This is definitely an amazing way of introducing kids to tech and nurturing the next generation of global talents at its early stage.
