Sure the craze about Bitcoin and blockchain technology in Nigeria, and Africa might have subsided but it has not ended. Hence, Paxful, a global leader in peer-to-peer bitcoin technology, has announced that it will build a blockchain technology incubation hub in Lagos, Nigeria, as part of its growing investment in Africa. This is understandable as the country has the most users on the platform in Africa.
The proposed hub will launch later in 2018. As a fulfillment to the unwritten requirements of being a great hub, this one will provide a co-working space and other services including mentorship, corporate and individual blockchain training, and networking for ICO advisors.
“Paxful is committed to fostering economic growth in Africa and helping the unbanked and underbanked gain access to the opportunities they have been denied for so long,” said Paxful CEO Ray Youssef. “The incubator is simply a starting point to help driven entrepreneurs in an industry that has shattered boundaries all over the world.”
Heading the Africa region of the company is the newly appointed Chuta Chimezie. Chuta will be in charge of conducting business operations, facilitating local and international brand awareness, creating educational content on behalf of Paxful, recruiting and overseeing the incubator’s day-to-day operations. He is basically, the African lead for the company.
He feels that “It is a privilege to work with an organization that believes in investing in countries with great potential such as Nigeria. Paxful’s initiatives have not only helped those in great need here, but are also helping African entrepreneurs achieve their full potential. Paxful is using Bitcoin to do good in the world, and I am proud to become an integral part of that.”
As a result of their increased participation in Nigeria, Paxful will be at the helm of sponsoring and speaking at various events in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Kenya. With this proposed investments by the company in Africa, it is expected that the continent would further see the importance of blockchain in our society.
