Animated series and movies are the real deal for kids, while they are also becoming a thing for adults. These type of movies are now becoming widespread amongst youths as much as they are amongst teens. They also require sheer creativity in its creation.

Dedicated animated movies channel for kids, Cartoon Network is on boarding African creators for a short animated film project. Applications are open for creative Africans who have the next big idea to make kids laugh. Below are details of the project.

Project: Cartoon Network’s next short animated film (1-3 minutes)
Target: 6-12 years old – core target: boys 7-10
Language: English or non-dialogues
Genre: Comedy
Goal: Make African kids laugh out loud!

 

To be considered, your entry must come with a:

1. Fresh new style
2. All kinds of humour – craziness, randomness, absurdity included!
3. Comedy driven by engaging characters and unexpected stories
4. Positive values such as kids spirit, diversity, non-violence, and never-ending imagination
5. Unique graphism based on any animation techniques (2D, 3D, stop motion, mixing real footage…)

African talents including creators, writers, graphists, students from African animation schools, African residents OR African-based companies are eligible to apply. To apply, you MUST be 18 years of age or older. Participants MUST submit an animated short concept presentation that includes a written concept, a heroes’ description, storyline and/or synopsis, graphic intention. You can also submit additional materials such as storyboards, animatics, and videos
